I would totally wear…

Poncho from max.tan

(Max Tan is a Singaporean designer whose clothes reflect the Swedish experimental aesthetics)

…with any of the shoes below…

Janneke Verhoeven – Epicycloïd Enlightment

Nick Rosenboom – Late Night Jane

Rebecca Ward – Psychodiagnostik

Oda Pausma – Untitled Shoe

Pauline van Dongen – Vertigo

Josine Visser – Syndrome

Jiska van Rossum – S/HE

Franciscus van der Meer – Anna’s Appearance

These, my fellow shoe-lovers, are entries for the Golden Heel Award made by ArtEZ Fashion Masters student studying at Fashion Institute Arnhem. See I noticed how creative artists can be when they are not weighed down and constricted by bottomlines, yet as surreal as some of these works may be I can picture myself walking in them. In fact the wierder they are to most people, the more I love them.

Anyway I’ve tried to gather as much information about the competition as possible. It’s sponsored by a Dutch shoe company – Sacha. There is a voting system up and running on the website. I’m not sure whether the winner’s shoe would be reproduced for sale but if it does for the love of art I hope the design will not be compromised for the sake of commercialism. As of right now the shoes are exhibited at Tassenmuseum, a museum of bags apparently (definitely my kind of museum!). If I were anywhere in Europe I’d have trotted my way down just to catch a glimpse of these otherwordly works.

Check out their webblog here. It’s amazing.

Being broke ain’t no fun

by Gracia Ventus

So I’ve discovered that my Finsk wedges are one of the most challenging shoes to match with my outfits. I’ve tried multiple colour combinations, unfortunately black isn’t one that works. These boots are for shades of whites only. I could make my life easier by buying the black ponyskin pair but hey, that’s what my OC boots are for.

On another note I’ve entered this picture for Luisa via Roma’s Follow the Buyer contest.

Got this military jacket from Stella Mccartney’s collection for Gapkids. The jacket was sold out within the first day all over US and online, but luckily they were still available at the southern hemisphere (although there were only 2 pieces in this size). Unfortunately I had to let go of it due to lack of funds for other necessities (heck, I wasn’t even supposed to buy it in the first place).

Anyway the picture’s up on Luisa via Roma’s FB page so if you like the store AND like my outfit as well please be a fan of the store and click ‘like’ on my picture. All help is greatly appreciated.

PS. Firefox doesn’t work on the link, use Safari or IE instead.

A sketch of another bag I will be making as soon as I have the funds to get exotic skins in the most delectible custom colours. I swear I have the most ridiculous case of paranoia putting my creations up online since plagiarism is nothing new in this century.

Celine’s Spring/Summer 2010 Handbag: ‘Luggage’

December 7, 2009

by Gracia Ventus

When was the last time anyone has ever given Céline bags a second look? When was the last time I would even want to give Céline bags a look? Heck they don’t even have their own Wiki page.

But all that is about to change with Phoebe Philo heading the once-flailing French luxury brand. Like the Joan of Arc herself Phoebe Philo will manouver Céline back to its prestige, and I believe she is more than halfway there. She has done an extremely excellent job with her Spring Summer 2010 collection, and she’s definitely making Céline the next leader in accessories. Don’t believe me? Just check out these bags which recently arrived in stores.

This is the first collection that was designed by Philo. If quiet luxury has an image this bag would be it. The SA told me that the model name is Luggage, and it comes in a myriad of sizes from small, medium to large. The ones here are the medium sizes, each one setting you back about SGD 3,000, which might probably cost about 1,000 Euro, considering luxury goods in Singapore are a little overpriced.

Here are the different colourways shown on Céline’s website.

I foamed when I saw this tri-colour version, but to my horror it looks like the mid section is made of canvas, nooooooooooo…… It would have been perfect if it was in suede instead. There are so many choices I’m not sure which ones I like but I suppose I have some time to make up my mind until I raise enough funds for it (or till the sale begins). Now the question that is going through my mind: which one is a better buy, the YSL’s Muse Two (which I have been lusting after for months), or Céline’s Luggage?

Edit: Need more info about the ‘Luggage’? Stay tuned as I hunt down for one of them all the way from Melbourne.

‘Tis the season to be jolly

Previously I mentioned that all I want for Christmas is to be able to save up for the Rodarte boots. Alas, the boots are pretty much sold out at Opening Ceremony, not to mention it’s quite illogical to spend way above my means on a single pair of boots.

The Perfect Buckled Boots

November 17, 2009

by Gracia Ventus

Ok so I finally gave in to temptation and bought them. Yes I am half ashamed to admit that I have joined the hispter clan but it’s all worth it as soon as my twinkly toes snuggled into the boots. At this height they are the most comfortable heeled shoes I have ever owned.
