In a recent trip to the outdoors, I wore my favourite Improvd dress over a plain maxi skirt, to which I added the aforementioned fabric to play around with. What started with a very pristine look soon turned quite unexpected along the course of the day.
So at first I had it wrapped and tucked neatly like this, which almost resembled a sari.
And then I thought of adjusting the scarf so it’d have a hood, which ended up exaggerating my bum and rendering my frontal curves non-existent, perhaps an unconscious nod to Comme des Garcons’s take on unconventional beauty.
After a while I got bored with a hood so I did a bit of Junya Watanabe-ish sort of arm restraint, which is again done unintentionally. Bear in mind I have no mirror at all in the outdoors so the results were accidental, but nevertheless more than satisfactory.
There were several other slightly different adjustments in between (because the bloody thing kept slipping off when not tucked in properly) but I posted the most interesting ones. And lastly the last permutation of my magical $10 scarf, which by the end of the day has become completely haphazard.

I love long scarves. The last pic, where your pose looks so ethereal, reminded me of some pre-Raphaelite paintings:

And I reckon the woman in the next painting is looking at her rescuer’s clothes and thinking “awesome outfit”…

by ODYSSEY on April 6, 2013 at 5:48 amOh my… I am in awe. You are a beautiful sculpture in lush tropical gardens. Mind. Blown.
And a neat idea, the wrapped fabric – I would never have the patience to keep adjusting!

by Emi on April 10, 2013 at 2:44 amwhat brilliant styling! you really do bring out the lure of draped darkness especially as it’s juxtaposed against the shrubbery and textured rock. i also love the complexity of the draping – even if it was just improvised, you nailed it! xx
