Return of Yohji | The Rosenrot | For The Love of Avant-Garde Fashion

Return of Yohji

March 29, 2013

by Gracia Ventus
There comes a point in one’s fashion journey when fatigue and boredom set in, when you just want to take a break and not give a toss about looking nice, let alone keeping up to date with the industry itself. And by you, I mean me.But not to worry, I’ll be back soon with more substantial walls of text. In the meantime, I’d like to chime in on how tough it is to ‘get’ the Yohji sensibilities for someone who is so used to extreme rigidity and fluid drapes. I own very few of his garments, but I’m glad to have caught hold of this piece, which helped to explain why many Yohji fans have become monotheists.

I can totally see Yohji wearing this himself. It’s his recognizable style. So minimalistic, so strict and styled. And over all, really looking great on you. Liked this post a lot.

I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a YY dress or jacket for some time. But as always, when trying a label for the first time, I prefer it to be in person…and I’ll need to travel to find any YY.
You wear this look so well.

Such good proportions. I love how YY isn’t aiming for that concept of “effortless” that so many seem to aspire to. The opposite in fact – YY requires its wearers to make an effort.

It’s considered and playful. That’s probably why it works.
