Who’d have thought I’d be wearing a green dress? I’m not even sure it’s flattering my skin tone to be honest. As someone who wears colours that are best described as dust, stone, and horse lung, I have no idea what my ideal non-mud colours are. Need some advice from you guys please. Yay or nay?

by Visa on August 7, 2012 at 10:49 pmHarrow! Just dropping by!
I think the dress itself is cool (makes me think of Greek philosophers) and the shoes are pretty wicked.
The red lips and naked wrists are a little odd to my (amateur) eye, though. What if you tried green lipstick too? And gold accessories! Google “Athena” for inspiration.
That’s my interpretation, anyway!

by Gracia Ventus on August 10, 2012 at 11:43 amHi Visa, nice of you to drop by.
I might end up looking like Poison Ivy if I try green lipstick. The designer of the dress is known to take his inspirations from Madame Grès who did a lot of Grecian drapery inspired by, well the Greeks of course.
Perhaps accessories might be the key. Unfortunately it is one of those things I invest very little in.

by Visa on August 14, 2012 at 2:33 amLooking again, I think a darker shade of red- maroonish- would make the look more “expensive” (or “higher level”, in a video game sense). I am now also imagining hoop earrings

by noirconcept on August 8, 2012 at 12:34 amI adore the colour of the dress and I think it looks really good on you, but I think it would look even better with different pair of shoes..

Emily
by Emily on August 8, 2012 at 4:02 amYeah, the tone suits your skintone!
We’re so different with our use of colour – you’re such a minimalist and I’m the total opposite. It’s always interesting to observe what colours different people wear :-)

by Gracia Ventus on August 10, 2012 at 11:47 amI could be quite maximalist when it comes to colours, but it takes a fair bit of effort for me to do that as opposed to say, wearing shades of grey. One of my favourite designers has always been Mcqueen and you know how loud he can be. If I can afford his stuff I’d probably find myself wearing vivid colours more often.

Jay
by Jay on August 10, 2012 at 8:29 amI think it makes your skin look a bit livid, but the outfit being very fresh, minimalist and sexy, I think it works quite well on you.
Maybe it lacks jewelry (neck or hand wrist) ?

I do think some chunky wrist accessory is required here, but I am a complete and utter failure in that department. Seems like I just can’t jump on the arm party band wagon.
