Rick made this particular skirt for both boys and girls for the last couple of seasons. What I’ve heard is that the skirt for the men’s version is roomy and comfortable to walk in. Perhaps that’s why they also look rather like a slightly oversized bin bags tied around the waist (when standing still). Now contrast that to the women’s. Boy can I just say that the skirt is mighty tight, so tight that I was forced to take dainty steps in them. It fits me fine around the waist but I have a feeling that Rick didn’t actually account for the average lady’s waist to bum ratio. If I were to take the next size up, I’d lose the streamlined silhouette of the skirt, not to mention the fact that by the time I could get the skirt there was only one size left. On the upside, I was finally walking like the prim and proper lady Mary Poppins would be proud of, but I gave up on stairs completely for fear of making a hole at an indecent spot. Oh the things we do for fashion!

by Alicia - Sea Of Ghosts on July 30, 2012 at 11:42 amYES! The waist to bum ratio!! This is why I’m terrified to order this skirt even though I’ve seen it pop up in various incarnations on The Outnet and such. Dying for one, though.
I do really appreciate fashion that takes effort to wear – challenging the wearer to move or behave differently…

by Emily on July 31, 2012 at 5:10 amNormal women have bums and other curves, designers seem to only design for models which is stupid.
Look how good the silhouette looks on you, I’m sure it would not have been dramatic to design it that less tight. It doesn’t look half as good on skinny models as on you!
Always keep the customer in mind, not the clothes hanger who’ll present it.

And thank you for the comment you left on my blog — it was very kind of you!
