Balenciaga Fall/Winter Block Heels

So I was strolling through Selfridges and found myself gravitating to Balenciaga’s counter. I requested for the fall/winter runway shoes, never expecting a positive reply from the sales assistant. Lo and behold, she gave me a secret wink and a nod that says, ‘I’m not supposed to do this, but I’m not going to let silly admin red tapes stop me from showing them to you!’ (ok that was entirely cooked up but she wasn’t supposed to show me the shoes, really).

Anyway while waiting for her I wasn’t entirely sure whether she knows which collection I was referring to, thinking she might bring me the non-runway versions or something but when she opened up the box, by george they were the most amazing things I’ve ever laid eyes on in person AND not just on the internet.

I let out a muffled scream of glee.

Boy oh boy they were like pieces of lego art that would win any Lego nerd’s approval. I couldn’t stop gushing over them while I paraded around the green carpet. Price of these babies: £1750. I would have considered buying them despite the hefty price tag (yes they were THAT awesome). Unfortunately they were the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever tried on. I’m no stranger to crazy shoes (some of you know me for that), but Nicholas Ghesquiere didn’t bother to take into account that wood is NOT PLIABLE AND SOFT. The white back piece cuts into my heels which made every single step I took rather a torture. And those wooden front pieces, let’s not go into that. However the shoes would serve well as a museum piece in your closet, to be taken out before you head to bed while you fantasize about walking around Mayfair in them.

Oh and they’re available in size 39 and 41, will fit 38 and 40 as well.

omggg! i’m completely jealous. i have my name on the list for these in the US. but i was also told that they were so incredibly painful by the sales people. :( nevertheless, this only reaffirms my lust for them.

They were incredibly beautiful, unfortunately my funds do not cover lustworthy shoes I can’t walk in. Better try to devise a way to reduce the pain when you get them
