Surfing through Endless or Zappos is like walking down a massive shopping mall that probably covers two or three zipcodes. I can spend hours just looking at the shoes available online. Well I guess that tells you how much of a shoe addict I am, not to mention how often I keep writing about shoes. So if you’re a casual passerby who are as crazy about shoes as me, you’ll feel right at home.
Now the shoes above are sold at Endless. I picked them out, not so randomly, because aside from being gorgeous, they are not your typical off-the-rack kind of shoes (well at least in the non-couture range). With the exception of Annie’s Forever pumps (which is so adorable and Dorothy-ish), everything else reflects today’s trends for heels. Every brand wants to create that sky-high stilettos that towers over everyone else.
How they come about is always from the designers (eg. Marc Jacobs, Alexander Mcqueen, Louboutin, Nicholas Kirkwood etc) who one fine day decided to create these dangerous high heels that no podiarist condone. And season after season the heel height just keep increasing, so much so that models tumbled and fall on the runways. You can see a list of them here. I tried on the infamous Prada Spring ’09 shoes myself and I could barely stand, let alone take a step. Their reason for doing so? Women are demanding for bigger, higher, taller and stronger heels that will make them feel oodles sexier.
And so the trend trickles down from the runway to high street fashion, right down to the mainstream level at varying degrees.
I say, bring on the heels, but no more than 4 inches WITHOUT platform please, just as long as I don’t end up looking ridiculous, or worse, like a stripper.
